The latest generation Jeep Wrangler is available in India in petrol-auto form only, in standard Unlimited form, and more serious Rubicon spec - which is even more capable off road.

The Wrangler offers the undiluted Jeep experience. The shape is a throwback to the original Willys and form follows function; a removable roof and detachable doors are part of the kit. India gets the long-wheelbase, five-door version but the Wrangler isn't the most comfortable SUV for the money. The second row seats are upright and drivers will also have to make do with some ergonomic compromises. There is a hard-wearing look to the cabin and Jeep has packed in essential goodies too. The Wrangler’s 268hp, 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is smooth and surprisingly punchy, while the 8-speed gearbox is pleasant. Ride quality is a bit lumpy on tarmac but off-road, the Jeep Wrangler is incredible. It’ll take you deep into the wilderness (and get you back out) without breaking into a sweat. If you're after a Wrangler largely for the image, you should be fine with the Unlimited variant. However, if and only if you are a serious off-road enthusiast, should you move up to the Rubicon, which is even more off-road focused, and even less suitable for everyday use.
