In its latest earnings call today, Mahindra revealed an order backlog of about 2.2 lakh vehicles as on May 1. It includes the 50,000 orders received for the newly launched XUV 3XO, priced between Rs 7.49 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh.

Bookings for XUV 3XO commenced on May 15, and the company claims that the number hit 50,000 in just 24 hours. Mahindra will start clearing the XUV 3XO’s order book when deliveries begin on May 26.

    1. Mahindra XUV 3XO receives good initial response
    2. Over 10,000 XUV 3XOs already manufactured

While the Indian SUV specialist has not revealed which of 3XO’s nine variants, or which of the six engine and gearbox combinations, are more popular, the response for the compact SUV appears to be good.

For context, when the pre-facelift version, XUV300, arrived in February 2019, it took a month and a half for bookings to cross the 26,000 mark.

To meet the demand for 3XO, Mahindra has already produced over 10,000 units.

Launched on April 29, XUV 3XO rivals Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Toyota Taisor, and Maruti’s Brezza and Fronx, among others. XUV 3XO has some best-in-segment features, such as dual-zone climate control, Level 2 ADAS tech, and a panoramic sunroof. It offers three engine options: 111hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol; a 131hp, 1.2-litre direct injection turbo-petrol; and 117hp, 1.5-litre diesel. The 111hp and 131hp petrol mills have 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter options, while the 117hp diesel has manual and 6-speed AMT options.
