The F-Pace successfully transfers Jaguar’s unique styling on a larger SUV canvas. It’s a nice-looking SUV and is well done on the inside as well. Sure, there are some average bits, but the dash is neat, there’s loads of space and visibility is really good too. The seats are comfy as well, and Jaguar has done well to offer an electrically reclinable rear backrest as standard.
The F-Pace is a model that lives up to its ‘sport’ utility vehicle billing. It’s a keen handler and you get a very connected feel at the steering. Of the engines, the 250hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol is a better fit with the F-Pace. It’s quick, pulls strongly and has a willingness to rev. The engine isn’t the quietest around and the 8-speed gearbox can feel jerky at times. The 180hp, 2.0-litre diesel is adequate but no more, and sounds coarse too. As for ride quality, there’s a firmness at low speeds but things settles down as you build pace.

The 2.0 petrol is the far nicer engine and the one we’d recommend, lower fuel economy be damned. Petrol or diesel F-Pace, there’s no difference in equipment. A panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, digital dials and a 10.2-inch touchscreen are part of the lengthy feature list.
